The ‘heat’ of Burgundy is all about the grand names and the grands crus of the Côte de Nuits but in Corgoloin – a sort of vinous interzone linking Nuits St Georges and the hill of Corton – Damien Gachot makes some of the most delicious, affordable and reliable red Burgundy in our portfolio. Corgoloin itself is deemed undeserving of an AOC, so the bulk of Damien’s production falls under the Côte de Nuits Villages appellation. His Les Chaillots has been a customer favourite for years: proper Pinot Noir made with skill and love from a well-situated lieu-dit.
